The Toronto Zoo is one of the best places to visit in Toronto. It’s the biggest zoo in Canada and there are a lot of unique animals there.

In this article, let me share some basic info about the zoo and also some of my favorite animals.

Where? Hours? How much? Basic Info!

The Toronto Zoo has more than 5000 animals representing over 460 species around the world. It is owned by the City of Ontario government and has kept and protected animals since 1974.

If you don’t have a car, the easiest way to get there is to take a bus from Kennedy subway station. Take 86A bus from Kennedy station, and roughly 50- minute bus ride will take you to the zoo, the last stop of the rout.

I got one online and printed out the email just in case, but they didn’t ask me to show the copy. I just showed the file on my phone.

Foods & Others

There are some restaurants inside the zoo. You can enjoy Canadian coffee shop, Tim Hortons as well. Also, there are some burger shops, pizza shops and so on. You can get some drinks at vending machines, but they are quite pricey… $4 for one bottle of water. I was shocked!

You can find many picnic places in the zoo and you can bring food and drinks there. If you want to save money, I recommend to get some at groceries or somewhere else before arriving to the zoo.

Education & Environment

The Toronto Zoo is having an art exhibition called “WASHED ASHORE -ART TO SAVE THE SEA-” until November. The pieces of art are made of plastic found in oceans and waterways around the world.

It’s a good opportunity not only for kids but also adults to think about the environment.
