Toronto has a lot of green spaces around the city. High Park, Queen’s Park, and too many to count. As you can guess from its name, Toronto Island is an island. It’s a 10-minute cruise from downtown. If you want to go to a park which is a little far from your daily places, it’s a fantastic place to visit!
How to get to Toronto Island?
First, you need to buy a ticket for the ferry. You can get one both online and at a ticket boos at harbor front, but I recommend to get one online because the ticket boos is usually crowded with people. You can buy a ticket here. I went there in early August, and I waited in line for about 20-30 minutes.
The ferry terminal is a walking distance from Union station, but you can also get there by streetcar 509/510, just a one-stop ride from Union station. Get off at Queens Quay Ferry Docks Terminal.

How much is the ticket?
- Infant Return ( under 2 years old) $0
- Junior Return ( under 14) $3.95
- Youth (under 19) / Senior Return ( 65+) $5.37
- Adult Return $8.19
The prices are the same if you buy online or at the boos. They take debit/ credit card and cash at the boos but they take only CREDIT CARD (VISA/ MASTER/ AMERICAN) online!
3 ferry docks in the Island

After you get the ticket, you’ll see three destinations of ferry. The three docks are; 1. Ward’s Island( east/ left of the picture), 2. Centre Island( middle), and 3. Hanlan’s Point( west/ right). All of these are in Toronto Island, so you can choose the destination according to your plan. The map of Toronto Island is available online. When I went there, my first destination was Centre Island, because I didn’t know if others were going to the same island, and I took the ferry from Ward’s Island to go back to downtown.

Some images I took in Toronto Island
I’d like to share some of the pictures on my short trip there. I stayed there almost 6 hours and walked about 13km in a day! There are so many beautiful places, nice benches and tables, and some restaurants/ cafes there. Also, there are a small amusement park, a farm you can touch some animals, rental bikes… everything for you to enjoy its wonderful nature and views.

In conclusion…
Toronto Island is a wonderful place where you can stay away from the reality, your daily life. Although it’s not so far from the city, I’m sure you can enjoy luxurious time there!
